Here’s a summary of the sessions last Sunday. These will also be posted online on the Parents Only Blog portion of the ministry website. ___________________________________________________________
EDGE- The session’s theme was “Divine Appointment”, in which we introduced and discussed the Sacraments of Healing; Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation. They heard and were able to share their thoughts about what healing is and that most of us think of healing as in broken bones or cured illnesses, but shared with them how Jesus is the “Divine Physician”, who came to heal our souls spiritually and had great mercy to those who desired to be healed. They learned these two Sacraments are two ways we can experience the healing touch of Jesus, especially in Reconciliation, through the forgiveness of our sins. The youth were given an opportunity to write a care card to someone from the parish who is sick or shut-in. The session closed with a prayer for all of our loved ones who need healing and all our loved ones who have died.
EPIC– (K-1) The session was focused on the Feast of All Souls and how Jesus promises eternal life. We also talked about the Saints and how we share community with them and how they are great models for us. We also prayed for all those who have died, especially our loved ones.
(2-4) The session focused on appreciating All Souls Day and how it is a time where we remember those who have died. They were given an opportunity to share their beliefs about heaven and eternal life. We discussed the Spanish celebration of Dias de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. We ended by remembering Jesus’ promise of eternal happiness with him.
