Welcome!
Welcome to the Children's Ministry at St. Margaret-St. John and St. Anthony. The Children's Ministry includes kids from pre-school to 4th grade through different dynamic faith formation programs, parish activities, and opportunities to help them grow as young disciples. Our goal is to help equip and mentor, you, as their parent, to be a faith-filled adult Catholic who is able to share your faith with your children, who look to you more than anyone else to show them how to live our their faith. Through this ministry your child will be able to experience God in different ways and begin their journey to becoming his newest faith-filled disciples.
So, I have a child who is in pre-school- 4th grade...
This multi-parish ministry wants to help your child grow in their faith. The ministry assists by having age appropriate faith formation programs for your children. They are Young Children and Worship (YC&W) and EPIC (K-4). Each of these will be explained in more detail below. There are parish events throughout the year where you and your family are invited to participate in the life and mission of the parish, so you and your child can build community with their peers and others from the parish.
Young Children & Worship (@St. Anthony)
At St. Anthony during the 11:30 Mass your child is invited to participate in Young Children & Worship (YC&W) during Mass before the Liturgy of the Word and are invited up to the altar and sent over to the St. Anthony Parish Center to read and participate in an activity pertaining to the Gospel, but in a way your child can understand. A Children's Bible is used and appropriate resources for your child to understand and apply the readings. This is also known other places as Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW). Children who are 3-6 are invited to participate. They are brought back over to Mass during the preparation of the gifts, so they're able to participate with their parents for the Eucharistic celebration. Have questions? Check out the YC&W page for more.
EPIC: k-4 Sessions
EPIC is the name of the faith formation ministry program for kids in Kindergarten through 4th grade. They are invited to participate in sessions occurring on Sunday mornings on the campus of St. Margaret-St. John. The sessions start at 9:50 and finish at 10:55AM, so they are able to participate in the 11:00AM or 11:30AM Mass. The materials used for this program are based on the readings they'll hear at Mass and are age appropriate for their learning styles. There are dedicated volunteers who lead the sessions and parents are always welcomed to help and participate in the sessions. The name EPIC stands for the fact that the Bible is full of exciting stories and adventures of people who are so important to our faith as Catholics, especially Jesus. They are epics meant to be shared.
