Here’s a summary of the sessions last Sunday. These will also be posted online on the Parents Only Blog portion of the ministry website.
EDGE- Sunday’s session addressed the very important issue of the family with an emphasis on the relationship between parents and children. We discussed different aspects of following God’s commandment to honor our father and mother. We encouraged your young person to look at their families as a reflection of God’s love and discussed different way they can help to have a positive impact on your family life. Here are some questions to ask your youth:
Why is the family so important?
Why is it important for us to honor our father and mother?
How is Jesus an example for us of obeying our parents?
What does it mean to be obedient? Why is this difficult at times?
EPIC– We walked down to the St. Margaret/St. John Church with the 2nd-4th graders and met Father Dave.
We discussed the purpose and meaning of many items in the church as well as the parts of the mass.
Here is a short list: paschal candle, lectionary, ambo, 1st and 2nd readings, Gospel reading, offertory, altar, Great Amen, Lord’s Prayer, sign of peace, communion, tabernacle, etc.
Father Dave even invited the children into the sacristy to show us all the different color chasubles he wears for different times of the liturgical year.
Look for a change from green (ordinary time) to white (Feast of Christ the King, November 23rd) this Sunday! (submitted by Christina Martich)
