After each Edge you will receive a short letter, like this, reviewing the time we had together and some questions to ask your child about what they did. We encourage you to use the questions to spark conversation with your middle schooler. You can read this on your smartphone by visiting www.smsjsacym.weebly.com/smsjsacym-parents-only .
Today’s theme is “The Best Selling Book of All-Time”
During today’s Edge session, we discussed how the Bible was put together. During this night they witnessed three biblical authors, Isaiah, David and John, being interviewed about their books of the bible and who they are outside of what they wrote. In small groups, they created some artwork depicting one of the books of the Bible. Spend some time in silence this week as a family reflecting on the Sunday Scriptures. Ask your child how the Holy Spirit is speaking to him/her through the Word of God.
Here are some questions to help start a conversation with your youth about what he/she learned during Edge:
1. Who were the three writers who were being interviewed?
2. What did you learn from the interview about the writers?
3. What did you draw to depict the book of the Bible your small group worked on?
In Him,
The Edge Core Team
Your youth was given a handout after the session and challenged by...
1. Today we were able to go behind the scenes and understand personally some of the biblical writers and how the Holy Spirit inspired them and the writings we see in the Bible we proclaim at our Holy Mass.
2. In prayer, we allowed the Holy Spirit to speak to us so that we can listen more intently to how God is alive and calling us to proclaim the Good News today.
3. Spend time either alone or with their family reflecting on the Sunday scriptures and how the Holy Spirit is speaking to them through the Word of God.
