On Sunday our EDGE session was about "what can help me pray". It was a continuation of our Conversation with Christ session, which talked about "how do I pray". Often, while praying, we get confused. We're confused about what to say or not say and we sometimes we just need a helper to assist us in making a good prayer. The youth were given some time at the beginning of the session to have a conversation with Christ by writing out their prayers to three questions. After their prayer time, we talked about what can help us pray. As Catholics, we have aids like the Rosary, the Bible, stories of the Saints, and the Mass, which can help us in our prayer. We hope this semester has started to spark everyone to either start or increase their conversations with Christ.
EPIC K-1: In Sunday’s Gospel Jesus teaches during Sabbath synagogue worship and expels an evil spirit who interrupts him. The people who witness this are amazed at his authority. They comment that he is a far greater teacher than any of their rabbis. The session explored the importance of teachers in the children’s lives.
EPIC 2-4 Update: Jesus is in Capernaum, his adopted hometown, where he teaches about the Scriptures at the synagogue service. People are astounded by the authority of his teaching and also by his authority over evil spirits. The session explored with the children the power they themselves have and the positive ways they can use their power.
