We had a great EDGE semester!: Parents and youth, thank you for an awesome EDGE semester. We hope you learned a lot and had fun while doing it. Parents, keep the faith conversation going this Advent. We look forward to seeing you for our next semester, which starts on Sunday, January 5th.
Bring your joy to others this Sunday: Plan to take some time out of your busy holiday schedule and serve the elderly in the community by singing Christmas carols for them at a couple area nursing homes. Any parishioner can participate, but we encourage families with youth to participate in this great service opportunity to care for and cheer up the elderly during the holiday season next Sunday, December 15th. We’ll meet at 2:45PM at St. John Vianney, go out to the local nursing homes, and come back for a potluck dinner. Bring a dessert or hot dish to share.
#AdventChallenge: Prepare yourself for Christmas this year by following @smsjsacym on Twitter. Anyone can connect with us. There’ll be a special post each day of Advent, with different actions you can take to get ready for the coming of Our King at Christmas. Let these 140 character messages help make a positive difference in your life and others.
High School Winter Retreat: There will be a winter retreat for high school students in grades 9-12 on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00AM-3:00PM. Teens, come to be refreshed and inspired in this retreat that’ll weave eight steps commonly associated with participation in athletics, personal fitness, and team activities and connects them with a path to wholeness and holiness. Participation forms can be found on the Youth Ministry website.
Pregnancy Center East Baby Bottle Campaign: We are looking for youth and families to help with the baby bottle campaign for Pregnancy Center East. We will need volunteers to serve handing out bottles after the Masses on January 11th and 12th and volunteers to serve collecting the bottles on January 18th and 19th after the Masses. If you would like to volunteer to hand out and collect, please send an e-mail to [email protected]. The proceeds from the bottles will help PCE carry out their pro-life mission and assist families in need.
